Nightlife

Rotterdam Nightlife: Clubs & Bars

From a converted grain silo to a hydraulic moving DJ booth: where Rotterdam goes out after dark.

Rotterdam's nightlife runs on the same reinvention instinct as its architecture: former industrial buildings turned into some of the country's most distinctive clubs, alongside rooftop bars and a handful of dedicated bar streets. The scene ranges from underground techno to jazz clubs with a kitchen attached.

Landmark Clubs and Venues

Maassilo

Maashaven Zuidzijde 1-2, 3081 AE Rotterdam

A century-old grain silo (built 1906) on the Maashaven, converted into a club venue in 2004. Its top floor hosts the long-running Now&Wow techno and house club nights, with the original silo funnels and pipes still visible in the interior.

Toffler

Schiehavenkade 15, 3024 EC Rotterdam

A club inside a former pedestrian tunnel, open since November 2011. Its back wall and DJ booth move on a hydraulic system, letting the room's capacity flex from an intimate event up to around 600 people over the course of a night.

BIRD

Under the Hofbogen, Rotterdam

A club, restaurant and live venue under the Hofbogen viaduct, open since 2011. The programme spans jazz, soul, funk, hip hop and electronic music, alongside a kitchen and an outdoor terrace, Garden of BIRD.

Annabel

Schiestraat 20, 3013 AH Rotterdam

A large nightclub and events venue a short walk from Rotterdam Centraal Station, known for bigger club nights and touring DJ line-ups.

Gastrobar ELVY at nhow Rotterdam

Wilhelminakade 137, 3072 AP Rotterdam

A 7th-floor rooftop bar and gastrobar inside the nhow Rotterdam hotel, with panoramic views over the Maas, the Erasmus Bridge and the skyline, and a street-food-inspired menu alongside signature cocktails.
